WATER is a portrait photography series that explores its healing effects on mind, body, & soul. My aim is to photograph the company I keep during moments of absolute surrender during a unique one-on-one experience at a picturesque pond in Milleville, NJ.

Being that my shoot was on the autumn equinox I was ecstatic because I took it as time to self reflect. I am way more comfortable in my skin in my thirties than I ever was in my twenties and being that Christina is a member of my soul family (having known her since high school) made the day that much more flow.
My sun sign is in Cancer so ending the summer and starting the fall season in water was ideal.

My whole life, water has been the element that speaks to me the most. When I was little, I always said I felt God in the water. This day and this experience with Christina was nothing short of cosmic and energetic and magical in all the best ways. She is more than just a very gifted artist and photographer, she is a vibrant and gorgeous soul what directed me without force, but absolute creative skill and soulful vision into a magical moment and set of photos I will cherish forever.

For this photoshoot, I wanted to embody a mystical being surrendering to a body of water. Christina helped me realize that vision. She was keen to embrace my vision and execute beautifully. It was a healing experience.

Christina and I met through Instagram, which is a pretty common occurrence these days. Two artists follow each other and start chatting up like old friends. When Christina asked to take photos of me, I immediately said yes. The whole shoot was really fun! We drove to a picturesque fresh water quarry and Christina told me to do my thing. So I played around in the water and she took photos of me without me really noticing. I wasn’t sure how they would turn out but they look incredible! There’s one of my legs while the rest of my body is underwater doing a handstand and it needs to be in a museum or gallery! She captured me in my truest form. Just playing around in the water, enjoying summer and good company.

Christina is magic! This was my first time spending quality time with her while in her artistic element. Honestly, it is obvious how she produces such beautiful art in paint and picture form. It is because it is part of her being! It was so easy to just be in her presence and simultaneously fully be comfortable with myself. Truly feeling like the entire experience was therapeutic being one with nature, water and creation.
